You are Nico Lin. You work for Star Pod, an organisation that promotes space exploration and runs adventure camps for children. You are an assistant to the director of Star Pod, Ms Ellen Ochoa. Ms Ochoa has asked you to do some tasks.

First, I need you to write a script for an introductory video explaining the Planet Tarkov Problem-Solving Activity to the children as was decided in the latest Management Committee meeting. You can start by looking at the minutes of the meeting. Also listen to what Professor Marvin Adams said on the podcast. Don’t forget to make the script lively and exciting.

Once you’ve done that, please write a report about the incident on the M.A.T. for me to send to the Management Committee. In the report, you need to explain what happened to the girl involved, the conclusions reached by the doctor and explanations for the M.A.T.’s failure given by the engineer. At the end of the report, present the recommendations that have been agreed on. You can start by looking at the minutes of the latest Management Committee meeting.

Finally, I would like you to write a refusal to a request made by the Locae Foundation charity. Remember to explain why. Start by looking at the letter they sent us. Please show sensitivity in your response and offer what we can to support this wonderful charity. We made some decisions regarding this in the Management Committee meeting earlier this week.

1. Tarkov Problem-Solving Activity

Ms Chawla reminded the committee that it had been decided to replace the PowerPoint slides used to introduce the Planet Tarkov Problem-Solving Activity with a video. Ms Chawla drew the committee’s attention to the feedback provided by last year’s instructors, in which they made suggestions for improving the Planet Tarkov Problem-Solving Activity. Ms Chawla added that she herself had made comments on the suggestions.

Chawla 女士提醒委員會：去年用作介紹 Tarkov 活動的投影片將改為影片，並請大家參考導師的改善意見及她的批註。

Ms Ochoa agreed with Ms Chawla’s comments and said that she would tell Nico to write the script of the video and to make the appropriate changes based on the instructors’ feedback and Ms Chawla’s comments.

2. M.A.T. Incident

Mr Wong presented the findings from his Multi-Axis Trainer (M.A.T.) Engineering Assessment. Ms Ochoa added that she would like to make one further recommendation: to cut back the branches of the trees above the M.A.T. building. She also asked Mr Wong to clarify how the roof would be sealed. Mr Wong agreed with Ms Ochoa’s additional recommendation and confirmed that a silicon sealant would be used.

3. Request from Locae Foundation

Ms Ochoa referred the committee to the letter received from the Locae Foundation. Mr Wong presented his Space Capsule Transport Feasibility Assessment.

Ms Ochoa agreed with the conclusions in Mr Wong’s assessment. Speaking confidentially, given our company’s dire financial situation, Ms Ochoa suggested that we needed to spend the money more wisely rather than on wasting money moving the capsule just to help a charity.

Ochoa 女士認同評估結論；她私下提到財政困難，認為應更明智用錢。

Ms Chawla said that in order not to seem like we are being cruel to a charity, they could be invited as VIPs to Star Pod’s Open Day. We should point out that it coincides with one of the days they requested. They could join the Open Day and meet the special guest at no extra expense to us. Ms Chawla said that as a special favour we could also give them ‘exclusive access’ to the Space Capsule and the M.A.T.

Mr Wong noted that the M.A.T. would still be under repair and so not accessible. Ms Ochoa agreed that the Space Capsule only could be made available.

As a precautionary measure, I called her parents and then I took her to Waglan Memorial Hospital, where no issues regarding her health were observed.

Instructor 1 “Please, please, please can we simplify the situation? Rather than all that complicated stuff about heading to a new colony on LV-426 and being hit by a comet, let’s just start by telling them they crashed on Tarkov. Also make the objective of the activity much much clearer. So, forget about the repairs. It would be much better, in my opinion, if they needed to survive for a year until they were rescued.” 簡化情境：直接說他們墜落 Tarkov；目標改成撐過一年等待救援。	These all seem sensible. I would agree to adopt all of these. 同意全部採納。
Instructor 2 “Fun to teach and most kids enjoyed it, but TBH there were a lot of kids not doing anything. We have to reduce the group size down from ten - I’d say to 5 - and give the children more than just 30 mins. to solve the problem. How about 2 hours overall - one hour to solve the problem, one hour for the groups to present to the other groups? I would also say that we should increase the amount of Physics. Make it like a real Science class so that the kids can learn something useful instead of just chatting.” 把每組十人減為五人，活動延長至兩小時；另建議加入更多物理知識。	Agree to adopt her suggestions regarding group size and time. Totally disagree with the point about Science. This is NOT school. 同意人數及時間調整，但不要把活動變成科學課。
Instructor 3 “Went well more or less. But could you make a 3D model of Tarkov and the spaceship so that kids can see it? I like the fact that they arrive on Tarkov in spring - this makes good sense, since it would give the crew time to actually do something before the weather turns extreme. I found a lot of interesting stuff on Tarkov and the science behind why the weather is so extreme on the NASA webpage. It really is fascinating. I think it would be good to add to the introduction.” 建議做 3D 模型；保留春天抵達；另加入更多科學背景。	The 3D model is a good idea but we have no budget. So no. And, again, no, I do not want to turn this into a Science class. 3D 模型無預算，亦不想變成科學課。
Instructor 4 “Need to get across just how extreme summer and winter on Tarkov are. Some kids don’t know how hot it is. One group even thought that all they would need is more shorts and T-shirts in Tarkov’s summer!!! Surely, we can add some exciting facts about the winter and summer.” 須讓學生明白 Tarkov 夏冬兩季有多極端，加入有趣事實。	Yes, agree. We can ask the astronomer Marvin Adams. He knows lots of amazing stuff about Tarkov. 同意，請天文學家 Marvin Adams 提供資料。

Machine / Component: Replica Space Capsule
Background: One of the first projects that I worked on when I first joined Star Pod in 2005 was the purchase of the Replica Space Capsule from the US suppliers Canaveral Space Technologies (CST). This was a small firm. It only made a very small number of these capsules. CST then went out of business during the financial crisis of 2008. It is therefore extremely rare and would be difficult / impossible to replace if damaged.

Issue: Feasibility of moving

Findings:

Fragile	No	General structure sound; indications of stress fractures on the bottom part of the capsule.

Based on the above, management should decline Locae’s request.
